Why should America continue supporting Israel with weapons?

It's obvious they can more than take care of themselves, and our continued supplying of Israel with military technology is A. Being used to macre people frequently B. Enraging radical Islam and making us a target of terrorist attacks like those on 9/11 ... so how is it in our best interest to continue so actively supporting them? How does Israel help us?
