When you hear the word "queer" what do you think of? What does it mean to you?

I don't want a standard textbook definition because I know that and can look things like that up myself, but theres a bit of controversy over it's meaning... I want to know YOUR particular definition and things like whether you attach negative connotations to the word or positive ones. Or when someone says they identify as queer what do you understand that to mean?
